Are you part of the WOLF PACK yet?
Great Wolf Lodge opened its doors to California’s first and only water park resort in February of this year, and it has been the buzz amongst all my mommy friends! My son really wanted to go up there during his summer break, so we decided to surprise him for his birthday and take him. Let’s just say he had a howlin’ good time! I’m not sure who had more fun the kids or adults?
From the moment we pulled up, to the time we left, it was non-stop fun! We decided to get there early, but our room wasn’t ready…no problem! They are prepared for that! They actually encourage arriving early with a welcome email a few days before your arrival, advising your wolf pack to have a separate bag ready for the water park. There are changing rooms inside the actual water park so you can get the maximum water time and not miss any of the fun!
What I thought was pretty cool is the adult wrist bands that double as your room key and allow you to charge to your room in all the outlets throughout the hotel. BONUS- you don’t have to take your wallet or key anywhere! They sent us a text that told us our room number so we didn’t even have to go back to the front desk and get the keys…our wrist bands got us in our room…easy like Sunday mornin’!
We stayed in the Wolf Den Suite and it was perfect for the 4 of us! Our little pups loved the bunk beds! It was actually the first time my husband and I got to sleep in the same bed when on vacation, so that was a big bonus! Inside the Wolf Den bunk area there is a bright mural with special animations, which are activated by the magic wands. The kiddos had so much fun casting their wands and interacting with the murals.
With over 105,000 square feet of indoor water park action, there are so many fun things to do and its great for all ages! There is a huge tree house with a gigantic tipping bucket that counts down until the water dumps….everyone comes running to get drenched. There is an awesome wave pool, which both kids loved because it was like being in the ocean. The slides were EPIC fun! My youngest (who is 3) couldn’t go on most of the slides, but my son (who is 7) took turns with my husband and I, ripping down the twisting, turning water-filled tubes….having the time of our lives!
At first, I will admit the water was a bit cold for my taste. Cue the jalapeno margarita (advised by a dear friend…thanks Gigi!) that made me instantly warm… LOL! I don’t think I have had that much fun, and great one-on-one time with my son in years! It brought the kid out of both my husband and I, and we truly had a blast.
Something pretty amazing and entertaining for the kiddos is the interactive stations throughout the resort. The magic wands from MagiQuest trigger interactive stations that give you clues to unravel the mysteries of the Magi.
There is just so much to do at the resort; you and the kids will NEVER be bored! From Howl at the Moon- glow in the dark miniature golf, Ten Paw Alley bowling, Northern Lights Arcade and Scooops Spa….the activities and fun are truly endless.
While the boys had their fun on the slides the last day, my daughter Brecon and I ducked into Scooops Kid Spa and had “Mommy and Me” pedicures. The delicious pedicures included chocolate, vanilla and strawberry fizzies, scrubs and lotion. If you are familiar we ME! Bath products, you will understand how heavenly they smell and how soft your skin is after you use them. Not to mention the kids think it’s the coolest thing to have ice cream flavored products smoothed all over them! We were treated like princesses and even got to take home tiaras and our nail polish! It was truly a great bonding experience with my mini-me.
We had such a fun experience at Great Wolf Lodge! In two short days we played in the water, casted our magic with wands, bowled our hearts out, played video games and had the time of our lives! Our wolf pack gives Great Wolf Lodge two thumps up! It truly is a must-do with the kiddos and a great opportunity to channel your inner child!
